Full redesign is scheduled on 2016 Nissan Maxima. Among other stuff, new metal sheets are prepared and probably new engine. However, its launch is set for New York car show, when all fans will get know more about this vehicle. The Maxima lineup is one of the oldest in Nissan family. At its beginnings in early 80’s, car was 4-door, small sport vehicle, and nowadays it is full-size luxury sedan. We will see if that will be changed for 2016 year.
2016 Nissan Maxima redesign
In 35 year old history, there were seven previous generations of Maxima. Part of the eight will be 2016 Nissan Maxima. From some leaked photos, we could guess what is headed for NY show premiere. First of all, new grille and almost complete front, with lights and bumper, which are also going to be refreshed. Sides have new lines. Overall look reminds not on full-size sedan, but rather on fastback coupe. Roof is also redesigned, and fans already called it ‘floating’, because of the line that seems to separate it from pillars. That is so coupe. However, the 2016 Maxima is going to be alluring model with its, everything but conventional, styling.
2016 Nissan Maxima engine
Under the hood of the 2016 Nissan Maxima is expected 3.5-l drivetrain to be found. This V6 is paired with CVT, which is sending power to front wheels. Output is not known yet, but improvement from current Maxima’s 290 hp and 261 lb-ft of torque, is expected. Also, boost should be seen on mileage, with 22 mpg fuel economy improved for at least couple of miles. Nevertheless, this model could appear as high-performance, Nismo model. That means Maxima is going to get supercharger, dual-clutch transmission with automate shifting, and many more additions, which should result output significantly higher than 290 hp. Also, we need to wait after the New York car show and the premiere of the 2016 Maxima to see if car is coming as hybrid.
