2019 Nissan Frontier Release date
It looks the 2019 Nissan Frontier is finally going to come completely redesign. This is probably one of the oldest models that you can find on the market. While the current mid-size truck market is full of fresh models, this one is more than 12 years old. The Colorado is new, as well as new Tacoma and Ridgeline.
On the other side, this model is present since 2005. While its global-market relative Navara received a complete redesign three years ago, Frontier remained unchanged for all those years, sharing design characteristics with the second-gen Navara. This is finally going to change. The 2019 Frontier will come completely new, so Nissan will once again have competitive truck in this segment. According to latest reports, the new generation is in a testing phase and should come by the end of year. Expect plenty of novelties, in various aspects.
2019 Nissan Frontier redesign
This redesign is about to bring a lot of changes. Considering that the current model is pretty old, significant improvement is expected in all aspects. First of all, there is a new architecture to come. Once again, it will be borrowed from the more famous Navara.
The global-oriented truck is present since 2014 and it is about to receive a mid-cycle refresh next year. The new 2019 Nissan Frontier will follow all those improvements. These two models should be very close in terms of mechanics, although some additional chassis for the new model are expected, in order to meet demands of American drivers. This new chassis will make 2019 Nissan Frontier far more capable compared to the outgoing model. Weight savings, better traction and handling, as well as overall dynamics are some of improvements that we’re expecting to see.
2019 Nissan Frontier styling
Redesigns usually bring significant improvements in terms of styling and 2019 Nissan Frontier won’t be an exception. Just like the current model which shares pretty much complete styling with the second-generation Navara, the new one will borrow many styling details from the current version of Nissan’s global mid-size truck. Still, we should consider that this model will receive a facelift next year, so 2019 Nissan Frontier should follow all those changes. So, expect a look similar to the current Navara, just with updated front end, with new headlights, grille and bumper, as well as with novelties in other areas of the truck. Same should go with interior design, although trim level organization could be a little bit different.
2019 Nissan Frontier engines
When it comes to engines, we should see changes as well. The current model comes with tow gasoline units in the offer. Those are 2.5-liter inline-four with 150 and larger 4.0-liter V6, which is good for about 261 horsepower. For the next generation, a base 2.5-liter unit will come with few tweaks, which will provide more power and overall efficiency. So expect max output around 170 horses. On the other side, old but highly reliable V6 engine will most likely continue without bigger changes. It is currently good for about 261 horsepower and 281 pound-feet of torque and we should expect similar numbers for the next-generation model as well. When it comes to transmission, an old 5-speed automatic will finally be replaced with the newer 6-speed gearbox.
2019 Nissan Frontier release date and price
The more precise launch date is still unknown, but 2019 Nissan Frontier should come by the end of year. When it comes to the price, base models should go around 25/26.000 dollars. Competition remains the same. There are several amazing trucks in this class, such as Toyota Tacoma, Honda Ridgeline, Chevy Colorado etc.
