The current generation of this compact luxury sedan has been around for about six years. Therefore, it’s no wonder that the company prepares a redesign for the near future. Simply, the competition in the segment is pretty tough and if you add to this the fact that crossovers are taking over the market, it becomes clear that sedans definitely need shorter production cycles in order to remain competitive. In this case, it won’t happen that soon. The 2020 Infiniti Q50 is expected to be a carryover, while the redesign will be reserved for a year later. Therefore, count on familiar design characteristics and features for the next year.
This sedan will continue to deliver a great riding experience, along with a lot of comforts and luxury. Such a combination makes this sedan a pretty strong competitor in this overflowed segment. Expect to see it on the market late in the year.
2020 Infiniti Q50 Redesign
As we’ve just mentioned, no one expects to see bigger changes on the 2020 Infiniti Q50. It will represent the last year model of the current generation. Therefore, it will continue with a familiar styling, which has been updated once during this production cycle. Still, that update was more about new features than styling changes. The beautiful curvaceous silhouette is still here and we only hope that the next generation will stick to that styling philosophy.
The mechanics are also pretty much the same as for the mechanics. This sedan rides on a familiar FM platform, which is used for several Nissan models as well. In this case, it works pretty well. The overall driving experience is good, though some of us would like to see a little bit improved handling in the future. Considering that the 2020 Infiniti Q50 will represent the last production year of the current generation, we cont count on more important changes. The best we could see are new color options, but even that doesn’t sound too likely.
Another aspect that won’t come with bigger changes. Despite it belongs to the class of compact cars, this sedan offers a pretty high level of comfort. Both rows of seats are pretty generous in terms of space so five adults can accommodate with ease. Also, it is important to mention that this model has some of the best seats in the class, which are massive, supportive and with amazing overall comfort.
When it comes to interior quality, everything seems it’s in the place. Some younger rivals may feel more opulent on the inside, but the fact is that all materials in this sedan are great. Moreover, the dashboard, along with a dual-screen setup looks pretty stylish.
There is plenty of room for upgrades as well. In higher trims, you can get things like leather upholstery, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and other conveniences.
Tech and Safety Features
This is where we could see a couple of novelties for the next year, but the things should generally remain the same. Therefore, the 2020 Infiniti Q50 will continue with a familiar dual touchscreen setup, with 8- and 7-inch screens as standard features. Other notable standard features are things like Bluetooth, two USB ports, HD Radio, voice recognition, satellite radio. You can also get extras like 16-speaker audio system, navigation, a Wi-Fi hot spot etc.
Considering the age of this sedan, a list of standard safety features is relatively ok. It includes things like rearview camera, predictive forward collision warning, and forward emergency braking. Of course, things are much better in higher trims, where you can get all kinds of goodies, including 360-degree parking camera, blind spot monitoring, high beam assist, front and rear parking sensors, backup collision intervention, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane departure prevention and much more.
2020 Infiniti Q50 Engines
We have no doubt that the 2020 Infiniti Q50 will continue with familiar engines in the offer. Base versions feature a small but efficient 2.0-liter turbo-four, which delivers around 208 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. An optional 3.0-liter V6 seems like a much better option, as it delivers around 300 horsepower. Such amount of power would satisfy most drivers, but if you need a real performer, you can also opt for a hi-output turbo V6, which delivers full 400 horsepower.
A hybrid version is also in the offer. It delivers around 360 horsepower.
2020 Infiniti Q50 Release Date and Price
We expect to see the 2020 Infiniti Q50 sometime late in the year. The price shouldn’t change too much, so base versions should go around 36.000 dollars.
