The current generation of the gorgeous coupe has been around for a couple of years. Normally, we wouldn’t expect to see any notable change for the 2020 Infiniti Q60, but it looks like the company prepares something very interesting. Allegedly, we are finally about to see the new Project Black S version in serial production. So far, this model was presented only as a concept and it looks like it is finally ready to hit the market. It will come with numerous modifications over standard models, starting from a super-powerful hybrid powertrain, upgraded mechanics, sportier styling and much more.
On the other side, standard models are about to continue in the same way, with the same design characteristics. Count on three familiar engine options, as well as on similar lists of standard equipment, though some additions are possible. Expect to see the 2020 Infiniti Q60 sometime late in the year.
2020 Infiniti Q60 Redesign
In terms of base design characteristics, we won’t see any notable changes, at least when it comes to standard models. The 2020 Infiniti Q60 will continue to ride on a familiar FM platform, which underprints a few more sports and luxury cars, including 370Z and Q50. In terms of the styling, the Q60 follows the bradn’s latest design language, characterized by a lot of smooth and clean lines, without too many sharp details, which isn’t the case with most cars these days.
When it comes to the new 2020 Infiniti Q60 Project Black S version, it will come with numerous upgrades over standard models. The first thing you’ll notice is a lot of new styling details, starting from a black finish, which is combined with a couple of yellow details. Of course, there are new wheels and several more distinctive details. Of course, a lot of work has been done in terms of mechanics as well. The first thing that comes to mind is suspension, so it’s no wonder that it sits notably lower than the standard model. Also, there are new brakes, as well as a lot of new bodywork that provides more downforce and better aerodynamics.
The cabin of this coupe looks great. The cabin looks very stylish, while all materials feature high-end quality. The dashboard is particularly stylish, as it features long and clean lines, which are combined with curvy center stack and integrates infotainment system. The front seats are amazing. They are very massive and supportive, which great ergonomics. Moreover, finding a perfect driving position seems easy, as seats are power-adjustable. On the other side, the rear seats aren’t that generous in terms of space. While the legroom seems ok, the main complaint goes to the headroom, which definitely suffers from the cars stylish coupe layout. Same goes for the cargo area, which is also quite small. With 8.7 cubic feet, this trunk is definitely among smallest in the class.
When it comes to the Project Black S, we expect a lot of upgrades. Of course, the complete cabin will be black, with a couple of yellow accents. Also, count on typical upgrades like sports seats, new materials etc.
In terms of standard equipment, things shouldn’t change too much. In the current model, all version feature standard dual-screen setup, with 8-inch upper display and a 7-inch lower one. It looks very attractive, but the fact is that the infotainment system isn’t the most advanced. Moreover, most rivals are far superior in this aspect. On the other side, all 2020 Infiniti Q60 models will come standard with things like Satellite radio, HD Radio, Bluetooth, two USB ports, and a six-speaker sound system. Of course, higher trims offer much more, including things like a navigation system, a Wi-Fi hot spot, and a premium audio system etc.
In terms of safety, a rearview camera is the only standard feature. Still, you can get numerous advanced systems as options, including blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, pedestrian detection, forward collision warning with automatic braking, front and rear parking sensors, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree parking camera and many more.
2020 Infiniti Q60 Engines
The 2020 Infiniti Q60 will continue with three familiar powertrain options in the offer. Base versions will feature a 2.0-liter turbo-four, which is good for about 210 horsepower. Also, there is a turbocharged V6 with around 300 hp. Finally, the same version is available with 400 horsepower. All engines are paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission.
The new 2020 Infiniti Q60 Project Black S will come with a new hybrid system. It will feature the same 400-hp V6 gasoline engines, plus three electric motors. Combined, these four sources of power will be making 563 horsepower, which will be enough for a 0-60 spring in just four seconds.
