The current generation of this luxury crossover came last year so we can say it is still pretty fresh. However, that doesn’t mean the next year won’t be exciting at all. According to the latest reports, the Japanese carmaker is preparing some quite interesting novelties for the next year. The new model may be very fresh, but there is still a lot of room for improvements. Of course, there are some spectacular design solutions and technologies, such as the new turbo engine, this crossover also lacks refinement in some aspects.
The first thing that comes to mind is the infotainment system, which is the same is in some Inifinit’s five-year-old model, and that definitely isn’t fresh enough for today’s industry standards. Therefore, some reports are suggesting a new infotainment system for the next year. Another possible novelty is a new, performance trim level. Still, don’t expect to see 2020 Infiniti QX50 any earlier than usual.
2020 Infiniti QX50 Redesign
In terms of base design characteristics, this crossover definitely won’t change too much. The current generation has been launched relatively recently, so there is no need for core changes. Its D platform isn’t the freshest one, but still delivers more than a decent ride. On the other side, the styling is amazing. Typically for this Japanese luxury brand, there is a lot of sleek and curvy lines, without any sharp angles. Therefore, we don’t expect any modification in the next year. Still, there is a chance to see a new trim level in the offer, a sporty version of the crossover. This model would come with a couple of interesting upgrades, starting from new suspension, new engine, and other mechanical upgrades, but also with some notable styling upgrades, including new bodywork, a new set of wheels and similar things.
This is probably the biggest improvement over the previous generation of the QX50. In the past, this crossover wasn’t a genuine luxury car, mainly because of its cabin, which didn’t feature some spectacular quality. Moreover, it was pretty much a mainstream cabin. This time, things are much different, as the new model features super fine materials all around the cabin. Also, the dashboard looks very stylish and it is highlighted by a dual-screen center stack, something that characterizes all newer models from this luxury brand. In terms of comfort, this crossover is quite generous in terms of space.
Both rows are quite generous in terms of the legroom, while the front seats are particularly comfortable, and offer great support. The 2020 Infiniti QX50 won’t be just luxurious and stylish, but also very functional on the inside. The new generation is very generous in terms of cargo space. It offers more volume than almost every competitor, with quite impressive 31 cubic feet behind rear seats and 67 cubic feet of overall cargo space.
The 2020 Infiniti QX50 could come with a couple of additions in terms of standard equipment, but things will generally remain the same. In practice, this would mean standard features like InTouch dual-screen infotainment system, six-speaker audio system, satellite radio, a USB port, Bluetooth etc. Of course, there is much more. There are things like a moonroof, tri-zone automatic climate control, navigation, premium Bose 17-speaker audio system and more.
In terms of safety, all models come with a rearview camera, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, and forward emergency braking. Of course, there is more in higher trims, where you can get a surround-view camera, front and rear parking sensors, a head-up display, lane departure warning, lane departure prevention, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, backup collision intervention. The advanced ProPilot is available as well.
2020 Infiniti QX50 Engines
The QX50 may lack in some aspects compared to the competition, but also shines in some things. One of them is a new engine. The will continue in the same way, with the company’s new 2.0-liter turbo-four engine, which is characterized by excellent efficiency. Practically, you get V6 power and fuel economy of a typical four-cylinder engine. In numbers, this means a max output of quite impressive 268 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. On the other side, fuel economy goes around 24 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway and these are some of the best ratings in the class.
As we already mentioned, there is a chance to see a performance version in the next year. This version would probably come with a 3.0-liter V6 engine, maybe even with full 400 horses.
2020 Infiniti QX50 Release Date and Price
Despite potential changes, the 2020 Infiniti QX50 is expected to arrive sometime late in the year. When it comes to the price, we don’t expect bigger changes either. The current model starts around 37.000 dollars.
