After the last-year redesign, we are pretty sure that the 2020 Nissan Altima will come without more important changes for the next year. For the second production year, the famous sedan is about to continue in the same way. We are about to see the same design, which has been introduced less than a year ago, which has brought a variety of interesting novelties. Of course, there is a new exterior design, based on the brand’s latest design language, as well as complete mechanics.
Furthermore, the interior is also completely new and it comes not just with the new style, but also with a full load of new tech features. We expect to see the same engines in the offer, while one the potential novelties for the 2020 Nissan Altima could be a performance version. However, there is still no confirmation of this “Nismo” version. In any case, we should see the new model sometime late in the year.
2020 Nissan Altima Redesign
The base design will definitely remain the same for the 2020 Nissan Altima. The recent redesign has brought a lot of novelties. Of course, there is a new styling, based on the company’s latest design language, highlighted by a prominent V-Motion grille. The overall look is pretty sleek and you definitely won’t notice that the new generation is slightly bigger. As we already mentioned, the next year could bring us a Nismo version.
If this happens, we will see various kinds of upgrades, starting from a new body kit, which would include new bumpers, side skirts, rear spoiler, as well as a new set of wheels. Of course, the 2020 Nissan Altima Nismo would come with a full load of mechanical upgrades as well, starting from a new suspension and other chassis modifications.
The 2020 Nissan Altima won’t change from the inside either. The recent redesign has brought a completely new interior, which looks very nice. The cabin, particularly the dashboard looks very attractive, though some reviewers suggest that the quality of the materials should be better. In this aspect, especially in lower trims, the new Altima definitely can’t keet the pace with models like Honda Accord and Toyota Camry, which look far more opulent.
On the other side, the Altima is amazing when it comes to comfort and convenience. You will find plenty of legroom in both rows, so this sedan can easily accommodate five adult passengers. Typically for Nissan, front seats are amazing, which excellent comfort and support. Also, the cargo area features pretty solid numbers. You can count on about 16 cubic feet, which are pretty typical numbers for the class. Additionally, the trunk opens very wide.
As we already mentioned, one of the Altima’s strongest points is a long list of tech goodies. Naturally, this list could expand even more for the next year. Still, the core is expected to remain the same. Base models will come standard with things like an 8-inch touchscreen, which comes with a new infotainment system. Also, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are standard now. Other notable standard features are things like a six-speaker audio system, Bluetooth, satellite radio, four USB ports, and voice recognition. Of course, you can get a lot of additional features in higher trims, including navigations, premium Bose audio system etc.
When it comes to safety features, all models come with things like automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, and a rearview camera. Of course, there is much more in higher trims. You can get advanced systems like a 360-degree camera, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and traffic sign recognition. The company’s new ProPilot Assist is also available. This is a pretty advanced semi-autonomous system, which helps with things like set speed and distance behind other cars, steering, braking etc.
2020 Nissan Altima Engines
Under the hood, things should remain the same, at least when it comes to standard models. Base versions will continue with a familiar 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, which is good for 188 horsepower, which seems enough for a daily ride. Like some other manufacturers, Nissan has also dropped a V6 alternative, in favor of a new 2.0-liter turbo-four engine, which is good for about 250 horsepower. It is both efficient and powerful, so you can count on a pretty nice driving experience. Both engines come in a pair with a CVT transmission, which is smooth and simulates traditional automatic gearbox shifts.
Additionally, we could see a performance version, under the Nismo badge. However, details about it are still unknown.
2020 Nissan Altima Release Date and Price
Considering that we probably won’t see bigger changes for the next year, the 2020 Nissan Altima shouldn’t come much earlier than usual. We presume that the launch will be scheduled for the end of the year. Also, changes in price are not expected, so base models should go around 24.000 dollars.
