It has been more than ten years coming and the Nissan Titan finally has a replacement after coming soon for quite a long time. The 2016 Nissan Titan Diesel was unveiled this year at the Detroit auto show and it is a great leap from the previous Titan. The new Titan has the makings of a worthy competitor to the light-duty pick up class though Nissan say it is not in the light-duty trucks but in a class of its own.
2016 Nissan Titan Diesel engine
So Nissan say it is not only a new truck but a completely new class of truck. This is majorly because though it may seem to fall in the light-duty vehicle class, the new Nissan Titan has a Cummins 5.0 liter V8 diesel engine with a two stage turbo system -one smaller turbo that spools up faster at lower speeds and a larger turbo for extra power to eliminate lag. This engine produces 310 horsepower and 555 pound-feet of torque. The engine of 2016 Nissan Titan Diesel is paired with a six speed gearbox that sends power either to the for wheels or just the rear wheels. With proper equipment (which include transmission and engine cooling add-ons) the Titan can tow up to 12,000 pounds and its maximum payload is 2,000 pounds which is quite impressive for a truck meant to be in the light-duty section.
2016 Nissan Titan Diesel redesign
When it comes to design, 2016 Nissan Titan Diesel have three design choices, Single cab, Crew cab and King cab. They also have two frame choices with the larger frame being the XD which will have a wheelbase 20 inches longer than the other. Speaking of design, the new 2016 Titan Diesel is quite a good looking truck. With a fresh and modern look, it may seem similar to other trucks in its class but all is forgiven considering it is hard to come up with a new design with that shape.
Other features include the very comfortable seats found in the Altima with heating and ventilation for the front seats being available. There is also a 7-inch display for navigation, entertainment, the new rear-view camera and the optional Nissan surround-view cameras. The 2016 Nissan Titan Diesel also has an all new built-in gooseneck tow hitch that places the attachment point for the hitch head at the axle therefore reducing trailer sway.
2016 Nissan Titan Diesel release date and price
The specific release date of the new 2016 Nissan Titan Diesel has not been made public but it is said to be late 2015 with the price of lower grades starting at $25,000 which is generally equal to the entry-level price of its competitors. The standard XD though could cost as much as $50,000.
