Nissan is a leader in compact crossover segment, but recently competitors have launched new models, which were improved significantly, so quick response was needed from Japanese carmaker. The 2018 Nissan X-trail could be part of the new generation, which is going to leave competition behind this SUV launched in 2001. New era of crossover is coming, with many new features and engines, while vehicle is keeping its main functions and qualities. It will be excellent off-roader, whose 4×4 system is among the best in the class, and on the other side, well packed to provide maximum comfort. Compact SUV can’t provide high-end numbers in performance, but durable and reliable engine is one of the highlight of it.

New generation brings a new look of the 2018 Nissan X-trail. There is new grille with V-motion appearance, which could be also found on some other Nissan’s SUVs. Designers decided to go with some classic detail which could remind us on older X-trail vehicles. Nevertheless, there are also many upgrades all over the crossover. After grille, it is easy to notice new lights, bumpers and 17-inch alloy wheels. Higher trims are equipped with larger, 18-inch wheels. Inside the SUV, there is enough room for 7 passengers. Revisited interior provides maximum comfort and joy with new infotainment system. Smooth and quiet ride is perfect for longer trips, and to boost it, designers installed some new helping functions.

Compact crossover must beat competition, not only with design, but also performance. Because of that, new 2.5-l 4-cylinder engine is made for 2018 Nissan X-trail. This unit is good for 170 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque. By that, not only driving is being improved, but also fuel economy, which is one of the most important element when buyers purchase crossovers. This is possible because of the revisited 6-speed CVT gearbox. It sends power to front wheels by default, or all, if buyers wants so.

For 2018 X-trail, Japanese carmaker is preparing diesel option, but details are still unknown. Nevertheless, there could be crossover in Hybrid version as the most fuel-friendly trim level of the entire lineup.
