2018 Nissan Xterra


Although speculations about future of the Xterra crossover are saying that this vehicle will be out of production soon, Nissan decided to give another go for this SUV. Off-road crossover is coming as 2018 Nissan Xterra, but with modest changes and this could be final run for it since it is notable that profit is at lowest level since its arrival. However, modern refresh could start a new life of Xterra, and there are also some new packages which are available for entire off-road lineup from Japanese carmaker.

Power source of the 2018 Nissan Xterra will be 4.0-l DOHC V6 engine. This 24 valve drivetrain is expected to be the only available option for buyers, but its 280 hp and around 300 lb-ft of torque could deliver enough power to satisfy all needs of any driver. Engine is paired with 6-speed manual transmission, which sends power to front wheels. Automatic transmission and all-wheel drive system are coming with higher trims. Base model delivers 18 mpg combined, while top trim PRO-4X is at 16 mpg. On the other side, it brings many additional features, such as hill control, Bilstein performance shock absorbers for off-road conditions, and many more.

2018 Nissan Xterra redesign

There is no big changes in appearance of the 2018 Nissan Xterra. Crossover still uses F-Alpha platform, which is also used by Frontier and Navara. It is mid-range crossover positioned between big Rogue and smaller SUV Murano. Second genertaion of the Xterra was launched in 2005 and there were no big redesign ever since. Some changes were made on cabin and some parts, but nothing more than cosmetic enhancement. It won’t change for 2018 year model, that brings 16-inch  alloy wheels in 4-door configuration. Three trim levels are prepared, with X as base, S in mid-range and PRO-4X topping the class with many extra equipment which could lure more buyers.

Entry-level of the 2018 Nissan Xterra will be priced around $23,000. Higher trims cost more, since there are a lot more features involved. With slight upgrades, S level Xterra costs 2 thousand more. Significant raise could be felt if you are about to buy PRO-4X model. Then, buyers have to pay more than $30,000.
