A completely new 2019 Nissan Altima had its presentation already early in the year. With such quick released, it is clear that the Japanese manufacturer has big ambition with this model. Considering numerous amazing competitors, we couldn’t expect anything but engineers’ best effort to create an amazing car, which the new mid-size sedan should be.

This popular model is present for more than 25 years. It all started in 1992 when the original compact (in that time) sedan came. So far, we have seen numerous revisions. The recently-introduced version is the sixth generation of this famous nameplate.

The new model came with numerous changes. There is a completely new styling, as well as plenty other novelties. The interior design is also completely new, while a turbo inline-four replaces the V6 engine. Considering all these changes, we expect from 2019 Altima to be a great competitor in this overflowed segment.

Just like every redesign, this one has also brought numerous changes. The 2019 Nissan Altima has been re-engineered completely. This means a completely new platform, which brings some changes in dimensions. The new model has grown in all aspects for a bit. It is longer, wider and lower. It also features a longer wheelbase. Despite this enlargement, it is lighter than its predecessor. Among numerous re-engineering, there is also a completely new suspension, which keeps the new chassis under control much better. The new architecture also brings a new engine. Instead of the older V6, the new model will feature a new, far more efficient 2.0-liter turbo inline-four unit.

Just like it is usual for every redesign, this one also brings a completely new styling. The new 2019 Nissan Altima looks far more attractive than the outgoing model. There are plenty of new details, characteristic for the new design language. The overall shape looks sleeker and brings better aerodynamics for sure. Also, there is a completely new front end, which Nissan’s new recognizable grille and other things.

The interior design is also completely new. The cabin of 2019 Nissan Altima looks pretty classy. Horizontal lines dominate over a complete interior, especially on the dashboard. All materials seem of a higher quality compared to the previous model, while new trims and color combinations bring a dose of a premium feel as well. When it comes to the list of standard equipment, Nissan will be pretty generous. Besides numerous safety systems, this sedan comes in true hi-tech manner. There are two large screens. A 7-inch screen is for the instrument cluster, while the even bigger 8-inch unit stands on the center of the dash. Of course, there are all those things like smartphone integration, voice commands, satellite radio etc.

As we’ve already mentioned, there is a new turbo engine in the offer. Still, this is an optional unit.

Base models will stick to the proven, atmospheric 2.5-liter engine, which has been revised and now outputs 188 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque. Transmission is a familiar CVT, which sends power to front wheels.

Back to the new 2.0-liter turbo inline-four, it delivers 248 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. Compared to the replaced V6, it has less power but more torque. Still, fuel economy and overall efficiency are non-comparable. This engine is available only in higher trims, an optional feature.

The 2019 Nissan Altima keeps pretty much the same price as the previous generation. Base models go around 24.000 dollars. Speaking of the competition, this model should continue to dominate the segment along with other famous Japanese like Honda Accord, Toyota Camry and Mazda 6, but there are also models like Chevrolet Malibu, Ford Fusion, and others.
