Of course, the focus was on things like longer range, better performances etc. Still, the second generation offers much more than that, including things like completely new design, attractive styling, more comfortable interior etc.
This car is also full of equipment. Even the base model is characterized by an impressive list of standard features. For the next year, the company prepares a new, extended-range version, which will provide more than 225 miles on a single charge. The 2019 Leaf is coming pretty soon.
2019 Nissan Leaf gets a new battery package
The most important novelty for the next year will definitely be a new battery pack, which will provide a much longer range. So far, there was just one version in the offer, with 40-kWh battery. This model will feature a 60-kWh battery pack, which should be enough to provide more than 200 miles on a single charge. According to some reports, it will go over 225 miles.
Besides the new battery, performances will remain the same. Both versions will feature the same electric motor which comes in a pair with a single-speed constant ration transmission. A total output goes around 150 horses and 236 pound-feet of torque. This amount of power provides far better results compared to the first generation. While the original model needed more than 10 seconds to reach 60, this one is much quicker and gets the same speed in just 7.5 seconds. These numbers are comparable with many models with internal-combustion engines of similar size. On the other side, it benefits in terms of a far better fuel economy.
