2020 Infiniti QX30 Specs, Redesign, Interior, Release Date

The history of this nameplate started just about four years ago. The Japanese carmaker introduced the new entry-level crossover, which came heavily based on the Mercedes-Benz GLA crossover. Only four years later, this is one of the oldest models in the segment, which a clear proof of the rapid development of the segment. Normally, we expect to see some updates, given the model’s age.

However, latest reports suggest something different. It looks like the current model will carry on for a year or two and the all-new model will come completely designed by the Japanese company. Therefore, it’s not hard to make a conclusion that the 2020 Infiniti QX30 will come without more important changes. We are about to see the same design, as well as the same engines and other features in the offer. Therefore, expect to see it on the market sometime late in the year.

2020 Infiniti QX30 Design

Things are pretty much clear with the base design characteristics of this small crossover. As we already mentioned, it has been on the market for about four years. It came as a product of cooperation between Nissan and Mercedes-Benz. Therefore, it rides on the same platform as the previous-generation GLA crossover (the current model debuted recently). The engines and pretty much complete mechanics have been borrowed from the GLA, while Infiniti took care of aesthetics.

The QX30 follows the design language of the Japanese luxury brand and we can easily agree that it looks pretty amazing. Most likely, there won’t be a facelift in this production cycle. The current model will remain in the same shape for a couple of more years and then we should see a complete redesign. Therefore, the 2020 Infiniti QX30 shouldn’t feature any notable styling change, though we won’t exclude the possibility to see a couple of new color options in the offer.

Once again, don’t count on more important changes. The 2020 Infiniti QX30 is about to carry on it the same way, which would mean both good and bad things. So, let’s start with good things first. The best thing about this cabin is its quality. All materials are amazing, while the dashboard looks pretty stylish. Also, the infotainment system and another tech good are pretty intuitive and easy to use. Front seats are massive and supportive.

Troubles start in the back end of the cabin. First of all, rear seats don’t offer too much leg and headroom, even for subcompact standards. Besides tight rear bench, poor rearward visibility is another weak point of this crossover. Surprisingly, the cargo area is pretty spacious and functional.

2020 Infiniti QX30 Engines

As we already mentioned, things are about to remain the same in the next year. Therefore, count on two familiar units in the offer under the hood. Standard models will come with a well-known 2.0-liter turbo inline-four that is good for about 208 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. It comes in a pair with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Such combination ensures both smooth and dynamic ride, while great fuel economy is another great thing about this crossover. You can count on pretty impressive 24 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway.

Outside North America, this crossover also comes in a diesel version. This model comes with a familiar 2.2-liter turbodiesel, which is good for about 170 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. It also comes paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and features even better mpg ratings.

Tech Features

As we already mentioned, the QX30 features pretty high interior quality, but that’s not the only great thing about this crossover. It also comes with a pretty long list of tech features. All models come with things like Bluetooth, two USB ports, a 7-inch touchscreen, HD radio etc. Things like Wi-Fi hot spot and wireless device charging are available in higher trims, as well as things like Bose premium audio system, navigation etc. Unfortunately, you can’t get smartphone integration goodies like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

When it comes to safety, things are also quite good. All models come with safety systems like forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and a rearview camera. Of course, there are many more things in the offer in higher trim levels. Some of the highlights are things like automatic high beams, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, parking sensors, surround-view camera etc.
