Once a popular sedan all around the world, the Sunny is rather oriented to local markets these days. It is primarily sold in China and it is actually pretty much a rebadged version of another local mode, Latio. The current generation has been around since 2011, so you may presume that the redesign will happen soon. If we can rely on the latest reports, it could happen pretty soon, already for the 2020 Nissan Sunny. Still, keep in mind that these are just rumors and that we are still waiting for the official confirmation.
Still, these won’t stop us to speculate about the new model, as there is a lot of information from unofficial reports that can serve as a basis. According to them, the 2020 Nissan Sunny could hit the market already in the next year.
2020 Nissan Sunny Redesign
Developing markets are full of new cars that feature previous-generation design solutions. Sunny is a perfect example. However, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t require refreshment. The current generation is present for about eight years and if we consider that the Chinese market is growing very fast, there is no doubt that changes are more than welcome. If we can rely on the latest reports, the new model will stick to proved design solutions.
Also, it shouldn’t feature bigger changes in terms of dimensions. It will continue as a subcompact car, but with completely new aesthetics. Speaking of aesthetics, it looks like the new model won’t feature local design language anymore. The new models will adopt Nissan’s Global styling philosophy.
2020 Nissan Sunny Styling
The new 2020 Nissan Sunny will adopt Nissan’s new styling philosophy. If you wonder what does this mean, the answer is simple. We are about to see the famous V-Motion grille on this small sedan as well. This means a significant departure from the current model. The new one will look significantly more attractive, thanks to the massive use of sharp lines and angular shapes.
Sharper and more massive grille, narrower headlights, sportier bumper – those are just some of the novelties that we expect from a new model. Keep in mind that besides styling changes, the new 2020 Nissan Sunny will also come with completely new mechanics. Unfortunately, details are still unavailable, but we have no doubt that the new model will be lighter, more efficient, more agile etc.
Of course, this redesign will bring novelties on the inside as well. At this point, it is still early to talk about details. Still, we presume that the new model will use its interior space more efficiently and provide more space in both rows. Of course, keep in mind that this model will be designed primarily for developing markets, so don’t expect some spectacular materials quality and an extremely long list of standard equipment.
2020 Nissan Sunny Engines
We presume that most of the current engines will carry on, so the 2020 Nissan Sunny will come with a variety of powertrain options. The offer should start with a familiar 1.2-liter three-cylinder, which is good for about 80 horsepower. We count on a bigger 1.6-liter inline-four as well. This engine is good for about 110 horsepower.
Also, we expect to see it in a diesel version. Of course, this version will be powered with a well-known 1.5-liter dCi turbodiesel engine from Renault, which will probably come in a couple of output versions.
2020 Nissan Sunny Release Date and Price
The 2020 Nissan Sunny should by the end of the year, eventually in early 2020, if we can rely on the latest reports. When it comes to the price, base models should go around 12.000 dollars.
