2021 Nissan Armada Redesign, Changes, Engine

0

Among full-size SUVs, the Armada stands out for great driving characteristics. It offers great driving dynamics and impressive handling, which isn’t an often the case with such large, truck-based vehicles. However, the current model is a little bit old by today’s industry standards. Although the current generation was introduced just four years ago, the Armada is actually just a rebadged version of the more famous, internationally-offered SUV called Patrol. The current generation of the Patrol has been around since 2010, so we could say it’s about time to see a complete overhaul. A new styling, new cabin design and more efficient engines are the things these two nameplates definitely need. Fortunately, the new model could come pretty soon, maybe already in the next year, as the 2021 Nissan Armada.

Latest reports suggest a plethora of changes and improvements in all aspects. We could see it already in the second half of the next year. Still, take this info with a reserve, considering that we are still waiting for the official confirmation.

We count on a lot of novelties to come with this redesign. However, some of the things are about to remain the same. The first thing that comes to mind is the platform. According to the latest reports, the new 2021 Nissan Armada will carry on with a well-known F-Alpha platform, which underprints the current model as well. Of course, it will undergo several modifications, which will provide even better driving characteristics, but also bring improvements in terms of efficiency, comfort and overall driving experience. Naturally, weight reduction is one of the things that come to mind.

Also, if the new 2021 Nissan Armada is going to remain on this architecture, that would definitely mean that the Japanese manufacturer is not planning electrification in this segment. Don’t expect to see a hybrid Armada, although some reports suggest such a thing. The new model will stick to proven gasoline units, though there is a chance for novelties in this aspect as well.

Exterior Design

Of course, this aspect will come with the most obvious changes, at least when it comes to aesthetics. Also, we count on a slight increase in terms of size. The current model measures around 121.5 inches in wheelbase, which are pretty typical numbers for the class. Still, an inch more or two would be great for the new model’s interior.

Naturally, the styling is where we expect a lot form the new model. The 2021 Nissan Armada is about to come with new styling and considering the current model’s age, expectations are big. We count on a completely new face, which will follow the brand’s newest design language, but not completely, considering that it would be hard to implement all those sleek lines of the attractive V-Motion design language into a body-on-frame vehicle. This one will look a little bit boxier and we actually don’t expect to see significant changes in terms of the overall shape. The 2021 Nissan Armada should come with a typical wagon-like body, which will look pretty rugged and be very practical at the same time.

Interior

The interesting thing about the current model is that the cabin still looks very nice. The aesthetics are decent, but the thing that impresses us is the overall interior quality. All around the cabin, you can see hi-quality, premium-grade materials, so the Armada actually looks more upscale than most rivals, despite the age. On the other side, it lacks in terms of modern technologies. The first thing that comes to mind is the infotainment system, which is pretty basic definitely belongs to the previous generation of infotainment software.

Therefore, we know what to expect from the new model. A new dashboard layout comes to mind first, but we also expect to see a lot of new technologies. When it comes to practicality, we could see a little bit more space, but we have to say that the current model already looks pretty impressive in this aspect, as it features three spacious rows of seats and quite respectable cargo volume.

2021 Nissan Armada Engines

As we’ve just mentioned, the new 2021 Nissan Armada probably won’t receive any form of electrification. Most likely, it will carry on with the same good old 5.6-liter V8, which currently delivers around 395 horsepower. Of course, we count on improvements in terms of efficiency, so the new version should feature a little bit more power and higher mpg ratings. Also, there is a chance to see a version with a smaller, V6 engine, according to some reports.

2021 Nissan Armada Release Date and Price

The all-new 2021 Nissan Armada could hit the market already in the second half of the next year, if we can rely on the latest reports. In terms of price, the current model goes around 47.000 dollars and we don’t expect significant increase after this redesign.
