Is the 2021 Nissan Cube Coming back to the U.S.?

1

The 2021 Nissan Cube is coming back to the United States, according to the latest reports. While this story could make sense, the reality is slightly different. Interestingly, some reliable sources wrote about the Cube model and its return to the U.S. Moreover, the same sources mentioned that Nissan had plans to offer this adorable model in North America, things have changed.

Because of that, seeing the new Nissan Cube in the United States is pure fantasy. Although many fans would like to see it, this may come as a disappointment. On the other hand, Cube could go on sale somewhere else, like in Europe and Asia. Anyway, here’s everything you need to know about this cool and odd hatchback.

What is it?

The Nissan Cube is a subcompact hatchback manufactured by Nissan since 1998. The Cube was first marketed solely in Japan, however, it was later released in North American markets from 2009 to 2014. Moreover, Cube lived in Europe from 2009 to 2011. It is only available in Japanese Nissan dealerships aka Nissan Red Stage locations.

It is a somewhat bigger load-carrying variant of the Nissan Micra hatchback. While production for the North American market ceased in 2014, production for the Japanese market continued until December 2019. It was a funky and very cool model with a unique and adorable appearance.

The Last Nissan Cube Was Amazing

This small four-door hatchback was a truly amazing car. And while the 2021 Nissan Cube won’t happen anytime soon, the very last edition was perfect. You can easily spot that Nissan had fun making the Cube model. Its funky design and smaller dimensions were instantly recognizable and adorable. Under the hood, Cube used a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine with 122 horsepower. The front-wheel-drive setup was standard, along with the six-speed manual gearbox. A CVT transmission was optional and fantastic. And while this is not a powerful model, 30 mpg combined was more than enough to satisfy the customers.

Interestingly, but there were only two trim levels: S and SL. The base S trim level offered cool stuff like power-adjustable features and alloy wheels. The SL variant came with larger rims, automatic climate control, keyless ignition/start, and a rearview camera. One of the most impressive things about the Cube model is its Fosgate sound system.

2021 Nissan Cube interior

Anyone who had or still has the Nissan Cube model can confirm how great this model is. Besides a nice interior and attention-grabbing appearance, it was a car with superb handling and easy-to-park character. The cabin was spacious and the headroom was surprisingly ample. Even the cargo area surprised us, with almost 60 cubic feet of space. Driving the Cube hatchback was a great experience. The ride was comfortable and smooth, without any doubts.

The Comeback of the 2021 Nissan Cube is Not an Option

As we already said, the 2021 Nissan Cube won’t return to the United States, unfortunately. Still, you can find some older versions in various dealerships and you should definitely give it a chance. The Cube hatchback could arrive in Asia or Europe, but this is far from official. We are hoping to see this model in the coming years, as it would definitely attract a lot of potential buyers. On the other hand, Nissan officially confirmed the Cube model is not in production anymore.
