2021 Nissan Frontier News, Turbo V6, Diesel

For many years, the Frontier is by far the oldest model in the segment. However, this is going to change soon, as the 2021 Nissan Frontier is about to come completely redesigned. The current generation has been around since 2005, which is way too old by any standards of the automotive industry. Despite the age, it still makes some pretty good sales results, mainly because of a pretty attractive price tag.

However, the competition is getting tougher these days, like Tacoma and Colorado/Canyon aren’t the only rivals anymore. The Ford Ranger came back after several years of hiatus, while there is also a brand-new Jeep Gladiator. Therefore, this redesign seems like a natural thing. The new 2021 Nissan Frontier is about to come with improvements in all aspects, as well as with new aesthetics and technologies. We expect that the new model will hit the market by the end of next year.

Expectations from the new 2021 Nissan Frontier are huge. Considering that the current model hasn’t been changed for almost 15 years, there is no doubt that the new generation will be significantly better in all aspects. Of course, one of the first thing that comes to mind about this redesign is the platform. Interestingly, the latest reports suggest the new model won’t get a completely new platform. More likely, it will carry on with a familiar F-Alpha architecture, though with numerous modifications.

This will be the case with pretty much all BoF models from Nissan’s lineup, including the full-size SUV Armada. Still, this doesn’t mean we won’t see improvements in terms of performances, efficiency, utility etc. Also, we presume that the Japanese manufacturer will utilize some lightweight materials, which would reduce weight and help in all of this.

This is the aspect where we expect to see some of the biggest changes. Simply, the current generation has been around for way too long and its aesthetics definitely belong to another era of the automotive industry. Therefore, the new 2021 Nissan Frontier will come with a new, modern look, which should take a lot of inspiration from the internationally-offered Navara. However, latest reports suggest that the two models won’t be identical.

The new Frontier will come with several distinctive details and one of them is size, as we expect from this truck to feature a little bit longer wheelbase and larger overall size. Still, don’t expect to see anything radical on the new model. Also, we believe that the new version will be offered in a variety of options, with different cab designs and bed lengths etc. Single cab models are expected to be available as well, particularly in lower trim levels.

Once again, we count on significant improvements. The new cabin will look far more modern, but that won’t be too hard considering the current model’s age. Of course, we count on a much more attractive and more opulent dashboard layout, considering that the current one looks quite simplistic. Also, we expect finer materials and more attractive color schemes. Latest reports are suggesting that the new 2021 Nissan Frontier won’t feature a cabin that has too many things in common with the Navara,

The North American truck will feature more luxurious interior, as well as more spacious cabins. Speaking of the cabinets, we count on all three designs in the offer. Naturally, we also count on a full load of modern features, particularly in terms of safety and hi-tech goodies. Among them, we will see a new infotainment system, smartphone integration and other modern connectivity features.

2021 Nissan Frontier Engines

Big novelties are expected under the hood as well. The current model comes with two gasoline engines in the offer. They are both quite reliable, but not the most refined and efficient units in the class. This particularly refers to a large 4.0-liter V6, which is good for about 260 horsepower. It is powerful, but also quite thirsty. Therefore, we expect it will be replaced, most likely with a new 3.0-liter turbo-V6, probably with around 300 horsepower. On the other side, the base 2.5-liter four-cylinder unit could remain, though with a couple of updates for better efficiency.

Besides new engines, we could on a new transmission. The old 5-speed automatic should be replaced with a modern 7-speed automatic gearbox. A 6-speed manual should be in the offer as well.

Some reports are also suggesting a diesel version. At this point, we are still waiting to hear something from the officials on this matter.

2021 Nissan Frontier Release Date and Price

According to the latest reports, the 2021 Nissan Frontier could hit the market already in the second half of the next year. We expect a higher price compared to the current model, which starts around 19.000 dollars. The new model will probably go around 22/23.000 dollars.
