The legendary supermini has been a household name in the segment for decades. Things like excellent reliability, efficiency and overall build quality are the things that made this model a true icon among small city cars. The current generation has been around for about three years and it looks like we are about to see an update soon. We should see a mid-cycle refresh in the next year, which will bring new styling details, more features and a few more novelties. Still, the base design characteristics and the 2021 Nissan Micra will continue to ride on a good-old B platform, which also underprints the new Versa. Expect to see the new model sometime in the second half of next year.

2021 Nissan Micra Refresh and Possible Changes
According to the latest reports, we are about to see a mid-cycle refresh in the next year. We are about to see a couple of changes that will make this car more competitive in this highly-popular segment. Therefore, we may presume that most of the changes will be made in terms of styling.
On the other side, the mechanical aspect of the car is about to remain untouched. We are about to see the same vehicle, which rides on a B platform, the one that characterized the previous generation of Micra’s counterpart Renault Clio. Meanwhile, the Clio received a complete redesign last year and now rides on a new CMF platform, which brings many benefits, including the possibility for electrification. Therefore, we may presume that a complete overhaul will happen in the future as well.
When to expect full redesign?
Still, that will have to wait for a couple of more years. Meanwhile, the 2021 Nissan Micra will come with a notable mid-cycle refresh and we know for sure that the focus will be on the styling. The current model already looks pretty good, as it follows Nissan’s latest take on the V-Motion grille. Therefore, changes should be subtle. Naturally, most of them will come to the front. So, we may presume a couple of tweaks to headlights, grille, bumper etc. The rear end should feature any notable change, while we count on those typical updates, such as new color options, new wheels etc.
2021 Nissan Micra Interior
When it comes to interior design, we probably won’t see bigger changes. The current cabin already looks pretty nice, especially when it comes to the dashboard design. It looks very attractive, especially if you combine some interesting color schemes that are in the offer. Of course, there is a couple of areas with hard plastics and lower-grade materials. Still, that is a pretty common thing in the segment, so we won’t take it as a drawback. When it comes to the legroom, things are pretty decent in the second row.

Interior Dimensions
Naturally, the second row is tight, which is normal considering the model’s size. The only complaint we have is about the headroom in the second row, which should be better. On the other side, you may count on more cargo space than in rivals like VW Polo, Ford Fiesta, Skoda Fabia etc. There are around 10.5 cubic feet behind rear seats.
When it comes to the possible updates for the 2021 Nissan Micra, we don’t expect too much. We could see new color schemes, as well as a couple of more standard features. Still, we have to say that the current model is already equipped pretty well and comes with loads of tech goodies.
2021 Nissan Micra Engines
Novelties are possible under the hood as well, according to the latest reports. The current model comes with three powertrain options in the offer. Base models are equipped with a naturally-aspirated 1.0-liter gasoline engine, which is good for about 70 horsepower. Also, there is a 0.9-liter turbocharged unit, which is good for about 90 horsepower. Considering that this model is available in markets like Europe, a well-known 1.5-liter dCi turbodiesel is in the offer as well. It also delivers around 90 horsepower.
Micra is a small car but many experts claim it deserves something more powerful under the hood. A 1.2-liter turbo-four seems like a perfect engine for this supermini. It delivers around 120 horsepower, which is an amount that can turn Micra into a very nice performer.
On the other side, a hybrid version definitely won’t come before complete overhaul. Once the next-generation Micra switches to a new CMF platform, we may expect to see the electrified version as well. The current platform doesn’t support any form of electrification.

2021 Nissan Micra Release Date and Price
Given the updates, we may see 2021 Nissan Micra a little bit earlier than usual. Some reports suggest the third quarter of the next year, which seems logical. When it comes to the price, we don’t expect bigger changes, at least when it comes to base versions that go around 13.500-14.000 Euro, depending on the market.
