Infiniti introduced the Q50 in 2014 as part of its comprehensive rebranding program. This swoopy and elegant sedan debuted with all of the brand’s signature design elements. Moreover, and aside from a few minor cosmetic tweaks and engine improvements, the Q50 has stayed unchanged since. This carryover tendency is expected to continue with the new 2022 Infiniti Q50 sedan.
The Infiniti Q50 small luxury car replaces the previously available Infiniti G sedan range. The sedan’s fluidic shape lends it a sporty aura, but is it capable of taking on the German rivals such as Audi A4 and BMW 3-Seiries.
Infiniti Q50 Exterior Facelift
The exterior is one of the strongest qualities of 2022 Infiniti Q50. The 2022 model year will see minor aesthetic modifications, such as blacked-out accents. However, this will be the extent of the fascia or bodywork alterations. The Q50 is a beautiful sedan, and its curving haunches provide it considerable road presence.
We anticipate the Q50 model will retain the same swoopy and athletic appearance it has possessed since exploding onto the market in 2014. While its design is getting on in years, it does add a unique touch of originality to the usually bland midsize luxury sedan segment.
Interior Updates
Although Infiniti is a full-fledged luxury automobile brand, the Q50’s interior falls short of the standard. It’s pretty elegant and well-built, but it’s not even close to being a 2022 model year car. The interior design has begun to feel out of date. Additionally, the 2022 Infiniti Q50 is primarily a carryover, so don’t expect many cabin changes. While higher trim levels certainly enhance the quality quite a bit, they cannot disguise the outdated layout.
In general, the dashboard arrangement is rather good for a model that hasn’t been updated since 2014. Each trim level features an innovative dual-screen infotainment system. The top display is eight inches diagonally and is used to control functions such as navigation, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. The lower display is 7 inches diagonally and is controls media and temperature controls.
Q50 Sedan Provides Great Performances
The 2022 Infiniti Q50 comes with a potent engine that makes a real stand out in the segment. The 3.0-liter twin-turbo engine produces 300 horsepower, more than sufficient for this small luxury car. The engine comes with a smooth-shifting seven-speed automatic gearbox, one of the best in the class. The changes are so seamless that they are difficult to discern, even more so with the paddle shifters placed on the steering wheel.
And things get even wilder with the Red Sport 400 model, which adds 100 horsepower, improved brakes, and an electronic dynamic suspension. Infiniti has no plans to alter its engine selection for the 2022 model year, so anticipate the Infiniti Q50 to have the same insane performance.
2022 Infiniti Q50 Price and Release Date
The price of the upcoming 2022 Infiniti Q50 will once again start at around $37,500. The range-topping trim level will be available for about $60,000. This stylish sedan will hit the dealerships by the end of 2022. It will rival models such as Audi A4 and BMW 3-Series.
