The price is not expensive and even the interior offers more than enough high-tech features. Moreover, the cabin provides a high level of comfort, especially the upper trim levels. The redesign will include sharper styling and generally, the 2022 Altima will look sleeker than the outgoing model.
Even some changes under the hood are about to happen. This is not official yet, but this mid-size sedan will most likely introduce a new hybrid powertrain. At this moment, Altima is powered by a potent V6 engine, providing great performance. Without further ado, here’s everything you need to know.
2022 Altima Sedan to Introduce Redesign
The latest Nissan Altima arrived in 2019 with a sharper design, new engines, and all-wheel drive as an option. Now, the 2022 Nissan Altima is ready to introduce a redesign. Aside from an increase in standard safety features, the Altima sedan will gain new exterior features and refreshed styling. The Altima has been a Nissan brand stalwart since 1993 and is now in its sixth generation.
The 2022 Altima is longer and lower than typical family sedans, and it borrows design ideas from Nissan’s bigger and more costly Maxima. The body wears new lines so the side profile looks sleeker. The Altima sedan also comes with a sloping coupe-like roofline. Except for the basic S, all grades include LED headlights and 17-inch alloy wheels. We like the SR trim level that comes with sportier styling, athletic stance, and 19-inch wheels. Lastly, Nissan will provide new front fascia and new exterior colors.
Engine Specs
The upcoming 2022 Nissan Altima will deploy the same engine with 188 horsepower. This engine remains the only engine for most models, producing an impressive 32 mpg combined. The RS is powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 248 horsepower while achieving 29 mpg combined. Both engines continue to offer all-wheel drive, which is unusual in the mid-size sedan segment.
Altima Hybrid Could Happen In the Near Future
The 2022 Nissan Altima Hybrid is once again a rumor. However, this time it makes more sense than ever before. Nissan discontinued Altima’s hybrid powertrain in 2011. This model was available in only ten states in the U.S. Nissan offered a 2.5-liter engine with 158 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque. The electric motor adds 40 horses so the total output was rated at 198 horsepower. Interestingly, this model was available with a CVT transmission and it offered almost 40 mpg combined.
Now, Altima Hybrid will make a return. However, we don’t know if the hybrid powertrain will become available in 2022 or 2023MY. From what we know, the 2023 Altima seems to be a better candidate. On the other hand, we don’t know what Nissan plans to deliver. However, we expect to see impressive performances with great fuel economy ratings.
2022 Nissan Altima Price, Launch Date
The 2022 Nissan Altima is expected to start at around $25,000. A fully loaded Altima Platinum model with AWD will cost around $35,000 which is still quite cheap when compared to comparably equipped competitors. If you like the look of the sporty SR VC-Turbo, you can get it for under $30,000. If you choose the cheapest AWD variant, it will cost you around $27,500. The sales will begin in the coming months.
