The next-generation 2022 Nissan Elgrand could be one of a number of new Nissan e-Power models that will be introduced in near future. The same reports are suggesting various facts regarding the resurrected Toyota Vellfire competitor.
The Nissan Elgrand is the eldest of the Japanese executive minivan trio, having been in production for eleven years and being the third generation. The fifth-generation Honda Odyssey first appeared on the market in September 2013, while the third-generation Toyota Vellfire first appeared on the market in 2015. The sales will begin early next year and here’s everything we know about the Elgrand model.
2022 Elgrand Redesign
The upcoming 2022 Nissan Elgrand will gain a lot of cosmetic upgrades. This minivan is recognized for its long body and unique styling. However, Nissan will now provide new styling with a futuristic front fascia, borrowed from the Nissan Ariya electric crossover. The Elgrand model will also introduce new headlights, taillights, and even new bumpers. Nissan reportedly works on new optional wheels and new exterior paints. The Autech variant will be on offer in China.
This model comes with 18-inch aluminum wheels, a sportier stance, and more aggressive bodywork. Lastly, this version is available with Dark Blue, Pure White Pearl, Midnight Black, and Dark Metal Gray exterior paints. Anyway, the Elgrand minivan is getting significant exterior upgrades, which is great to hear.
Interior Changes and Updates
Although the current model has a third-row seating arrangement that is not particularly comfy, the third-row and luggage compartments are both somewhat narrow. Now, the 2022 Nissan Elgrand will deliver a smarter interior layout and a higher level of comfort. Designers intend to have taken these concerns into consideration when creating the completely redesigned car.
The Elgrand model will also gain a lot of high-tech features, including the latest driver-assistance aids. Still, we are waiting for Nissan to reveal more cabin details. Hopefully, the manufacturer will provide a larger display, along with the new infotainment system. Lastly, the upcoming MPV may use the company’s latest ProPilot automated driving technology.
e-Power Technology Will be in Use
The second-gen e-Power system employs the 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine. The new e-Power system develops 187 horsepower and 243 lb-ft of torque in the Nissan Qashqai e-Power. The 2022 Nissan Elgrand could use the same powertrain, along with the Nissan X-Trail e-Power variant. Unlike the Qashqai e-Power, Nissan may provide AWD Elgrand e-Power with a second electric motor in 2023.
In November 2016, Nissan introduced the Note e-Power in Japan. e-Power has sold over 500,000 e-Power vehicles in Japan as of March 2021. By March 2023, it expects to sell over 1 million EVs and electric vehicles, including e-Power variants.
2022 Nissan Elgrand Price, Release Date
The forthcoming 2022 Nissan Elgrand will reportedly go on sale next year, in the first half. It is the next-gen model with significant updates, so the price will be higher than ever before. On the other hand, this is a good thing as the Elgrand model really needs a more modern appearance and technologies. The MPVs are slowly dying due to the increased popularity of crossovers and SUVs. Still, a good MPV is hard to find and the Elgrand could become one of the segment leaders in the coming months.
