The upcoming 2022 Nissan Murano will be completely redesigned and will join Nissan’s other SUVs in the lineup. That includes the smaller Rogue and the more capable Pathfinder, both of which were recently redesigned. The brand-new Murano is set to be on sale later this year, with the new Pathfinder. The new Murano will most likely use Nissan’s new design language, which was first shown on the electric Ariya concept.
More affordable engine options are also an option, since the existing V6 engine, coupled with the unrefined CVT gearbox, lags below the competition in both performance and efficiency. Nissan will also try to deliver better fuel efficiency and much more, including the hybrid powertrain option.
2022 Murano Redesign
According to reliable reports such as Edmunds, this model is getting a redesign. The 2022 Nissan Murano will have Nissan’s new design, which was first seen on the all-electric Ariya concept, with sweeping LED DRLs, quad-LED headlights, and a huge grille. The rear design has a light bar that runs over the tailgate and extends to the sides. With an aggressive design and the distinctive V-shaped grille with silver highlights, the latest version is still modern.
Despite its aggressive and athletic appearance, the Nissan Murano is a calm and pleasant SUV. To boost the aesthetics, all versions receive LED headlights with DRLs and chrome door handles. The range-topping trim level rides on 20-inch alloy wheels and it offers a standard moonroof. Lastly, the new Murano will also borrow some styling cues from the IMS sedan concept.
The interior of the 2022 Nissan Murano will introduce a lot of updates with a slew of new amenities as part of the anticipated renovation. Despite its age, the contemporary Murano’s cabin still looks and feels premium, thanks in large part to Nissan’s superb zero-gravity front seats, which are the finest in the segment. Soft-touch leather is available throughout the higher trim levels, from the seats to the door panels to the armrests.
With a sweeping and flowing shape and wooden trim accents, the dashboard nevertheless appears contemporary. There is plenty of space in the back seats, which include a well-cushioned bench seat. An 8-inch infotainment touchscreen will probably remain the standard option, although we expect a larger and optional display.
Murano SUV Could Offer a More Fuel-Efficient Engine
At this point, we don’t know that much about the 2022 Nissan Murano and its engine lineup. The current engine provides great performance and it is a very reliable output. However, new-gen Murano will reportedly arrive with a more fuel-efficient powerplant. It could be a hybrid powertrain with impressive mpg ratings, but this is not official yet. Anyway, Nissan’s famous 3.5-liter V6 engine will continue to power the Murano model.
The engine develops 260 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels through a continuously variable automatic gearbox (CVT). All Murano trim levels are available with all-wheel. The EPA rates all versions at 20 mpg city, 28 mpg highway, and 23 combined. Murano’s towing capacity is set at 1,500 pounds, which is much lower than that of comparable cars of its class.
2022 Nissan Murano Price, Launch Date
The next-gen 2022 Nissan Murano will cost more than the outgoing model. The price will now start at around $34,500 and the sales will begin later this year. As before, the Murano SUV will rival reliable models such as Ford Edge, Honda Passport, and Chevy Blazer.
