The forthcoming 2023 Infiniti Q80 is still not official and everything is still at the stage of the concept. We don’t know if this model will ever arrive, since the sedans are not so popular. The whole attention is on the crossovers and SUVs, and even pickup trucks. Regular cars are out of trend right now, and it seems like this situation will remain for decades.
The idea of the Q80 Concept is to replace the Q70 model. The Infiniti Q70 didn’t stand a chance against rivals such as Audi A6 or Mercedes-Benz E-class. The concept is official, but this model still isn’t. Anyway, here’s everything we know about it at the moment.
Infiniti Q80 Looks Very Premium
As for the exterior design, the 2023 Infiniti Q80 sedan will look very modern and upright. This comes as no surprise as Infiniti is known for building beautiful vehicles. The Q80 will ride on a new platform, according to the most reliable reports. The goal is to deliver an electrified powertrain.
We don’t know yet if we are dealing with a hybrid or all-electric sedan. Anyway, the Q80 model will wear a familiar design language, although it will have some unique styling cues. It will be a mid-size sedan and the only source of information we have now is the photos of the original concept.
Interior For Four Passengers
The upcoming 2023 Infiniti Q80 will be a roomy sedan. Reportedly, this model will offer a regular 2+2 seating configuration, although fitting five passengers will be possible. After all, this is the base seating layout, but we expect to see numerous trim levels, and who knows, maybe some sort of special edition. The suicide doors are presented on the concept, but that won’t happen for sure.
For some reason, Infiniti went for a design without B-pillars, which is very odd. As we said, Q80 will be a mid-size sedan, so we also expect to see more than a decent cargo area. Of course, Infiniti will equip this model with the latest technologies, including the newest driver-assistance aids. Lastly, the comfort will be impressive, thanks to the use of premium materials such as leather.
Hybrid and All-Electric Powertrain Options
The new platform clearly suggests that we are looking at a possible hybrid or even an all-electric sedan. The 2023 Infiniti Q80 will deploy a four-cylinder turbocharged engine in a combination with an electric motor. This is just a rumor, so nothing is official yet. However, if this is correct, then the Q80 sedan will offer a plug-in hybrid technology.
This means we should expect impressive fuel efficiency and at least a decent all-electric driving range. We don’t know how much power this output will be able to produce. Anyway, Infiniti will surely deliver at least 220 horses. As for the all-electric variant, some speculations are saying the Q80 EV could be mechanically identical to the Nissan Ariya crossover.
2023 Infiniti Q80 Price and Release Date
Since we are looking at a luxury mid-size sedan, the price will start at $50,000 at least. This should be the price of the base 2023 Infiniti Q80. On the other hand, the range-topping trim level should cost over $70,000. While we don’t know the exact release date, nor the engine specs, we know the Q80 sedan will try to rival Acura RLX Hybrid and Mercedes-Benz E-Class Hybrid models.
