The upcoming 2024 Nissan Terra could be the next-gen model. This mid-size SUV slots between the X-Trail and Patrol models. It is a Navara-based SUV with great popularity in Asia. The Terra or X-Terra model will continue to compete with rivals such as Ford Everest and Toyota Fortuner. Nissan currently offers both left- and right-hand drive, but some changes are about to happen.
Reportedly, the new Terra will share the platform with the Mitsubishi Triton truck. Moreover, this SUV will get an optional 4×4 system, a new design, and much more. One of the biggest upgrades could be the plug-in hybrid powertrain, but this is not official yet.
Nissan Terra Hybrid Specs
The next-gen 2024 Nissan Terra is not official at the moment. However, many reports are strongly predicting the new generation. As we said, the biggest upgrade could be a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Reportedly, this SUV will follow the lead of the Mitsubishi Triton truck. That includes new architecture, which means the Terra model will slightly grow in size. Thanks to that, the new platform will be able to accommodate a hybrid system.
On top of that, a 4WD system should be available as an option, at last. The Terra PHEV will use the same setup as the Triton pickup truck, producing 250 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque. It will also have an all-electric range of around 50 miles. Finally, a 2.3-liter twin-turbo engine could make a huge return. It is a turbodiesel engine with 190 hp and over 300 lb-ft of torque. Nissan could add more power, per source, which is another great news.
The new 2023 Nissan Terra will also receive an exterior redesign. Reportedly, the new model will borrow a couple of styling cues from the new Nissan Frontier truck. Therefore, the new model will be bigger and it will wear a bolder exterior design. This will likely result in additional ride height and new larger wheels.
The front fascia will receive more aggressive treatment, and the side profile will gain a couple of stylish improvements. New headlights and taillights will also happen, so it is a complete makeover for this SUV. New trim levels are also a possibility and we expect to see at least one off-road-oriented variant.
The interior of the 2024 Nissan Terra will also gain a couple of important updates. For a start, this SUV will provide more space inside the cabin. However, the three-row layout won’t happen, per the source. Therefore, Terra SUV will remain a five-seat model.
On the other hand, new and more upright materials will be on offer, for an increased level of comfort. New dashboard design and larger displays are also on the way. Lastly, Nissan will provide more tech, new interior color schemes, and additional safety aids.
2024 Nissan Terra Release Date
The upcoming 2024 Nissan Terra will hit the dealerships in Asia next summer. However, another important info is that the Terra SUV could finally reach the Australian shores. This is not confirmed yet, but after serious re-engineering, Terra should meet the requirements for the land down under.
