It seems SUVs are dropping from the sky, get ready for the 2024 Nissan X-Trail Hybrid. This medium size SUV is ready to take on any obstacle you throw at it. It is one of Nissan’s best-selling vehicles and with good reason. People love it because it does many things, and it does them well. It is even off-road worthy if you wish to take it down the wild path. We are expecting some minor changes on the inside of the SUV. Mostly style-wise and some improved technology. It hasn’t been long since X-trail received an update. So the exterior is likely to remain unchanged. However, we might be in for some sort of electrification under the hood. Let’s take a better look at the upcoming X-Trail Hybrid.
Interior Refreshments
On the inside, we get a stylish interior with improved seating. The 2024 Nissan X-Trail Hybrid gets better cushioning and better upholstery with contrast stitching. Infotainment is standard with all the connectivity you might need. It has a 13-inch screen in the middle of the instrument panel. The dashboard is digital as well which makes tracking information much easier. There are numerous leather and chrome accents around the cabin to make it feel luxurious. There is an option for the third-row seat for those who might need it. An electric sunroof is available as well.
Facelift
On the outside, the 2024 Nissan X-Trail Hybrid is going to look quite similar to its predecessors. We might notice smaller tweaks to the body design. This is to improve ergonomics and aerodynamics. By doing this, engineers improve fuel economy, handling, and steering. Wheels are 18-inch rims made from lightweight aluminum. Same as the mesh on the front fascia. Headlights are linear and pointy, quite modern we might say. Bumpers protrude a bit and make the SUV look aggressive. There is no touch sensor on the cargo door which is an excellent addition. Overall the body looks modern and sleek.
Nissan X-Trail Hybrid Engine Specs
There will be several engines on offer. But the ones we are most interested in are hybrids. Especially the ones with the e-Power tag. This means that it has a high-output battery pack, a variable compression ratio gasoline engine, a single power generator, an inverter for producing power, and a front electric motor. This sounds like a complex system but it does wonders for performance. The traditional combustion engine acts as a generator while giving power to electric motors.
And not sending power straight to the axles. Most X-Trail models will be with a dual motor setup. This is good as this bodes well for performance. Each axle gets its own motor. The two motors give 200 horsepower in front and 130 horsepower in the back. This is the so-called Ariya-style electric all-wheel drive system. From zero to sixty it needs 7 seconds which is good timing for an SUV. It has the option of variably delivering power to the rear axle to improve rock crawling. This hybrid system also delivers torque much better than traditional systems. It has better weight balance and independent brake control on each wheel.
There is also a 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine with 200 horsepower as well. We get the choice of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 180 horsepower, which is combined with a 12V mild hybrid system. Full electrification isn’t in the works as of now. This does come as a surprise as most manufacturers are racing to go fully green by 2030. A battery pack of 150 kWh would suffice. It would give an amazing range with a great horsepower count. Also, it would future-proof the vehicle and make it immune to emission regulations coming soon. Perhaps the main problem is the platform that’s needed for electric powertrains. Maybe we get it next year, who knows?
Fuel Economy
The new 2024 Nissan X-Trail Hybrid is not the cheapest to run. It gets around 38 mpg combined driving. Hybrid systems do help a little but going fully electric would be the winning formula here.
2024 Nissan X-Trail Hybrid Price and Release Date
We are not expecting the 2024 Nissan X-Trail Hybrid to drop earlier than summer 2023. Perhaps even autumn. The starting price is estimated at around $60000 which is a good bang for your buck considering what you get with it.
