According to the most recent reports, the 2024 Nissan Xterra is making a huge comeback. This small SUV will make a return later next year in the United States, per a source. The Xterra model was a truck-based compact SUV. It lasted for two generations, from 1999 to 2015. However, the most recent redesign didn’t go so well, so the sales instantly dropped.
Now, Nissan has a new plan for the Xterra. This model will compete with Ford Bronco Sport, Jeep Compass, and Mazda CX-50 models. Therefore, a compact SUV is on the way. We expect to see a completely new design, numerous trim levels, and lots of surprises. The first renderings are here, so here’s everything we know so far.
Nissan Xterra Rendered
Recently, we had an opportunity to look closer at the latest renderings of the upcoming 2024 Nissan Xterra. Interestingly, digital images are showing a compact SUV that is clearly based on the pickup truck, like before. However, this time the Xterra looks more rugged and definitely tougher. It seems like the small SUV could offer solid off-road ability as well.
This particular rendered model is clearly based on the Nissan Frontier. Some reports are saying the Xterra model will slot below the Nissan Rogue, which makes sense. Unfortunately, the compact SUV remains a mystery, so we hope to hear the first official details by the end of 2022.
Interior Details
The inside of the upcoming SUV will be remarkably similar to that of the Terra model. The 2024 Nissan Xterra, on the other hand, will offer less interior room. The cabin will be elegant and modern. Of course, if Nissan plans to offer the Xterra model in the United States, we expect more premium materials. Therefore, the compact SUV could borrow lots of things from the Rogue model.
The utilization of a range of high-quality materials, fresh upholstery, and additional chrome elements are credited with the improvement. Even the most basic model will look appealing and enjoyable. No doubt, it will be a two-row small SUV with a room for five passengers.
Performances
Only a potent V6 gasoline engine was available when the previous generation Xterra was phased out. It’s a rusted-out powerplant that’s been surviving in the Frontier truck for years. If the 2024 Nissan Xterra were to return today, it would get the new 3.8-liter V6 gasoline engine with 310 hp. Not surprisingly, this unit powers the current Frontier model. A nine-speed automatic transmission would be used as well.
The Pro-4X trim level, which offers the most off-road prowess, is a must-have, and we’re hoping Nissan doesn’t disappoint. On the other hand, mentioned V6 engine will be optional, per the source. A smaller 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine should come as standard.
2024 Nissan Xterra Price, Release Date
The 2024 Nissan Xterra has a good chance of coming back. This model should arrive in the United States, at some point in 2023. The idea is to rival models such as Ford Bronco Sport and Jeep Compass. Therefore, the price of about $30,000 is the most logical outcome. Still, let’s wait for Nissan to reveal more details by the end of the year.
